Gemini

Gemini

«Just as fire born out of wind (fanned into a flame) is extinguished by the same wind, so also that which is born of imagination is destroyed by imagination itself» (Yoga-vāsistha-sāra, IV.3).

What a hectic September!

The conjunction of Mercury and Neptune, both in opposition to your sign, makes the fireworks burst in your mind. Gemini has already a very lively mind thanks to the governor of the sign, Mercury. This month Mercury will stimulate you even more, as it will be in cahoots with Neptune, the great planet of fantasy, but, alas, of chaos and uncertainty too.

Thoughts are the real danger of this moment. According to yoga, thoughts are the real danger at any time and one must practice to reduce them to the minimum. Yoga wants a mind free of thoughts and fantasies, as expressed in its main definition: yoga-citta-vritti-nirodha, «yoga is the arrest of mental functions».

Never like in this period, Gemelli, yoga practice can be of more help. Calm down, discipline and direct your thoughts in the direction you want is the goal. Start with this short sequence:

Utkata-āsana, literally the unstable pose, but known as the powerful pose and the yogic chair too. Try to relax in this instability and in this effort. Feel strong and firm, create your own stability. // From 30 sec. at 1 min.

Kūrma-āsana, turtle pose. Take a moment to withdraw into yourself. Observe the flow of thoughts and see where it takes you. // From 1 to 3 minutes.

Ujjāyī prānāyāma, breath that gives victory or victorious breath. Sitting in a comfortable meditative position, breathe and listen to the slow and deep breath. Be patient and calm. Use this breath during the day in any position to clear and stabilize the mind. Try to exhale twice the time of the inspiration! // From 3 to 6 min.

TOTAL TIME: from 5 to 10 minutes.

MANTRA of the MONTH: «So ham».
