Samyoga – consent
«“It has been seen by me” says the one, ceasing to regard ; “I have been seen” says the other, and ceases to act. In the (mere) conjunction of the two there is no motive for production» (Sāmkhyā-karikā, 66).
This is not about a shy girl, nor a meeting between two lovers. The quote refers to the spirit that manages to see matter as detached from itself. It is usually not possible, because spirit and matter are united in a tacit consent, samyoga, to create the illusion of life.
So matter prefers not to be seen as it really is, while remaining at the center of attention throughout life. When you see it as it is, matter has no more reason to continue its games because you see it is not so fundamental.
Now, I’m not saying you don’t show yourself as you really are, Aries, indeed. Everyone seems to like you and bring you to the center of attention even without you doing anything. This being in the spotlight is destined to diminish in a short time though, and you risk finding yourself frustrated without understanding that your need for attention is much deeper than you imagine.
Then don’t get angry with others if they are not all for you now, but rather ask yourself where this need comes from. Try to look deep into yourself, to be rooted in yourself without having to seek the consent of others. In yoga samyoga, “conjunction”, “consensus” is something your should overcome for your self-realization. Work to overcome it and even relationships will acquire a more genuine and mutual understanding.
Work on your foundation with this short sequence:
Ardha-stambha-āsana, half pillar pose, also called ardha-hala-āsana, half plow pose. Hands well firm on the ground, legs up, but held tight by the strength of the abdomen, symbol of will. Face is relaxed. The gaze is towards the sky, but the foundations are on the ground. // 1-2 min.
Vriksha-āsana, tree pose. You can dream, rush towards the sky, but with roots firmly planted in the ground. // 1 min per side.
Mūla-bandha, root lock. Choose the position you prefer, breathe in and exhale while contracting the pelvic floor (between genitals and the anus; if you can not, then contract from the genitals to the anus). Hold for at least 3 sec and then release. // 1-3 min.
TOTAL TIME: 4 to 7 minutes.
MANTRA of the MONTH: «Lam» (mūlādhāra-chakra bīja-mantra).
