Kalpanāśakti – the power of forming ideas

«Conceptualization (vikalpa) is the result of words and ideas empty of object» (Yoga-sūtra, 1.9).

Fantasy is one of the ways of the mind in being. Like any other mental content, it must be overcome to arrive at a state in which the mind is completely empty and attain the highest degree of samadhi, which means spiritual realization. However, if you disregard the ultimate goal of meditation, fantasy, like any other mental content, is in itself neither negative nor positive. When it is linked to concerns without foundation, as in the case of anxiety, it is harmful. On the other hand, if there were no imagination there would be no ground for any new discovery, nor for literature or art in general.

Aquarius generally has no lack of imagination, this month even less. Opportunities and ideas are there to maintain a stimulus to action. The climate is positive and the affections are stable. Only the beginning of the month is at risk of tension due to some event that can annoy, make you feel bad or make you want to do give up what you are doing. It is not worth giving them too much value, given that the general context is good and prolific. Keep in mind the definition of kalpanāśakti given by the dictionary: «The power of forming ideal pictures or of excogitating schemes, devices, modes, fancies: the faculty of imagination or invention» (from Wisdom Library, Marathi-English Dictionary) .

Support your imagination with these exercises:

Kurma-āsana, turtle pose. Relax and observe where your thoughts go. // 1- 2 min.

Ardha-Matsyendra-āsana, half Matsyendra pose. Consider all sides, be open to every possibility, look into every direction, though you keep centered. // 1-2 min. per side.

Visualisation. Relax in a meditative pose. Take some time to relax all your muscles. Imagine you are sitting on a flying carpet. It rises from the ground and takes you out of the house, towards the sky, towards the sun. The air is pleasant, the sun’s rays heat you up. Pass over the ocean. You see an island, observe its shape. You decide to go down. It’s a peaceful, quiet place. Walk on the beach. The sea is calm. There is only you and you can do whatever you want: explore the island, enter the water, relax, etc. When it’s time to come back, pick up your carpet and fly back to where you came from. You find yourself again in the room in a meditative position. See how you feel. // From 5 to 15 min.

TOTAL TIME: da 8 a 21 minuti.

MANTRA of the MONTH: «I explore different worlds».
