Aries

Dūra – far

«May my mind, that travel too far, which is the light of the lights, the only source of all wisdom, wandering in far-off places whether I sleep or awake, turn to what is noble» (Yajur-veda, 34.1)

Two months ago, Aries, I told you to keep the Shiva Sankalpa as mantra of the month. Well, that mantra comes from the Yajur-veda and here I propose it again to you. The mantra talks about good intentions and distant places. It says the mind can be a source of wisdom if it knows how to draw the right profit from traveling in faraway places (mentally or physically).

It’s the end of summer, but maybe you have the chance to stretch your holidays little longer before returning to the hard rhythms of autumn. From mid-month you have physical and mental energy to do many things, but certainly not the desire to engage in stressful activities. Take advantage then of Jupiter trine to move and travel and learn something new. It’s a nice way to counteract the indulgence that might leave with nothing to do and to recharge your spirit. At the end of the month the opposition of the Sun takes you back to the reality of yourself, come ready and positive!

IN PRACTICE

Śalabha-āsana, locust pose.

Determined to pursue what you want even covering long distances. Strengthen yourself by performing this pose every day from 30 sec. to 1 min.

Awareness exercise:

How long have you not seen a butterfly? If you are outdoors, observe one if you see it. If not, take a few minutes in a meditative pose. Think of the effort it makes to transform and emerge, think of the lightness with which it moves when it is finally free, think of the curiosity with which it explores the world.

Mantra of the month:

“My good intentions”.
