Sthira – firm
«The āsana is steady and comfortable» (Yoga-sūtra, 2.46).
«Sthira-sukham asanam» is a classic verse that you may know. It is the first and most important definition of āsana. The word sukha means “happy” and in that context indicates that the position must be comfortable, such as to make the mind and body peaceful. Sthira instead means “still”, “stable”, “not moving”, “constant”, “lasting”, “fixed”, “faithful”, “non-fluctuating or fickle”. It is said of affections and passions that are “calm”, “moderate”, “composed” too.
If, as I thought, you experienced moments of calm last month, Capricorn, remember those moments and seek the same peace of mind. Life returns to challenge you and tests your perseverance, your firmness and your ability to take responsibility. In short, remain convinced of what you do. There is no need to fight, but only to stand firm in the face of adversity and those who are against you. In addition to sthira, recall the term of last month santatman too.
