Taurus

Siṣādhayiṣu – desirous to prove

«Now I am confused about my duty and have lost all composure because of miserly weakness. In this condition I am asking You to tell me for certain what is best for me. Now I am Your disciple, and a soul surrendered unto You. Please instruct me» (Bhagavad-gītā, 7.2).

Arjuna is confused because he is torn between what he feels to do and what he thinks he should do. Furthermore, as for what he should do, according to different points of view, a certain behavior or an action could be more correct of others. Therefore he asks “God” directly, but he understands that it would not be profitable to receive a simple order and in fact says to Krishna: śādhi mām = instruct me.

Sādh (sometimes śadh) is a root with many nuances: “learn”, “understand”, “complete”, “achieve”, “finish”, “conclude”, “conquer”, “try”, “demonstrate”, “verify “. The compound siṣādhayiṣu carries within it the root sādh and means precisely “desirous to prove”, “demonstrate” or “desirous to accomplish”.

You feel the need, Taurus, to conclude something and show that what you are doing will take you somewhere. However, it is likely that it is not really your need, but what you think people expect from you. You have a lot to do and you have plenty of energy and enthusiasm to do it, so don’t worry about the claims of others. Instead, continue with the same commitment that you have put up to now, continue learning.

IN PRACTICE

Brahmarin-prānāyāma, black bee breathing

Some schools suggest performing this breathing, in which you breathe out emitting the sound of a bee (like a fly buzzing around your ears!) with your ears closed. Nice way to get away from what people say or from your own thoughts. Try it at least three times every evening.

Awareness exercise

Write down every night something you have learned during the day and which even indirectly can be useful for your purpose.

Mantra of the month

«Keep it up».
