Praśna – questions
«The seer said to them, “Stay for a year, practicing austerity, chastity and faith. Then ask me whatever you desire to ask and if we know, we shall, indeed, tell you all about it.”» (Praśna Upanishad, 1.2).
Another half month and then you will be smiling again, Sagittarius. On the other hand, if everything went smoothly as you would like (and who wouldn’t?), you would never have the opportunity to go deep, to ask yourself questions. Questions are necessary though, albeit painful at times. Without that deep investigation, you cannot think of moving to a higher level of life, to a better quality, which is given by a greater awareness. Eventually, it takes time to answer certain questions: the sage asks the disciples to stay for a year. How long have you been thinking about the answers?
IN PRACTICE
Salamba bhujanga-āsana, easy cobra pose, called sphinx pose
Do you remember the riddle of the sphinx in the myth of Oedipus? «Who, despite having only one voice, turns into a quadruped, triped and biped?» The answer is: «The man, who crawls on all fours in childhood, then walks on two feet in adulthood, and finally uses a walking stick in old age».
Awareness exercise
There is a Buddhist meditation that invites you to repeat mentally: “I am not exempt from illness, I am not exempt from old age, I am not exempt from death”. Do not think that such a meditation depresses you, rather it serves to accept the truth of things in order to live more serenely. Try to do it as an exercise at least a couple of times a week.
Mantra of the month
«Into the dephts».
