Sādhana – acting for a goal

«The seven aids (saptasādhanam) for conditioning the body are purification, strength, steadiness, composure, lightness, realisation and isolation». (Gheranda-samhitā, I.9).

Sādhanas for Gheranda-Samhitā are what must be achieved with the various practices of hatha-yoga. More generally sādhana indicates the discipline that the practitioner imposes to himself to reach his goal. It differs from tapas, the austerity which accompanies the practitioner in his asceticism and which sometimes results in a renunciation (for example: I quit smoking). The sādhana is more a reorganization of one’s life, it requires planning and the assumption of a certain lifestyle at least for the period necessary to achieve the goal.

Well Aries, this June I would suggest you to organize yourself in view of the difficulties that you will have to face in the second half of the month. It will seem to you that everything goes against you, even material things: small accidents like the computer that erases important things or crashes, the car that does not work, etc.

It is a good test to see if you have learned to put order in your work, in the things you care about, to plan wisely things to be done, without overdoing and using the energy in the most intelligent way. The more organized you are, the less you will feel this transit, which will indeed manifest itself as a further possibility of expansion.


Trikona-āsana, triangle-pose

The triangle forms one of the most stable foundations in construction. In its harmony it represents the balance between the parts. Practice this pose every day for one minute per side and think if all aspects of your life are in harmonious balance.

Awareness exercise

See if and how much you are upset about deadlines. Consider reorganizing yourself to fulfill what makes you agitate the most a couple of days earlier than the deadline.
