«The seven exercises (sādhana), which appertain to this Training of the body are the following: purificatory, strengthening, steadying, calming, and those leading to lightness, perception and isolation» (Gheranda-samhitā, I.9).

Choose the next moves!

The month probably begins with tensions, which are resolved near the end of the month when Sun, Jupiter and Mars return favorable. Though Mercury is in a good position, you’d better use this month for organization and strategies of action than for action itself. For those born in the last decade it can be a month to plan pleasant changes in various spheres of life with the trine of Uranus returning to Aries.

The sādhanas for Gheranda-Samhitā are what you are supposed to achieve with the different practices of hatha-yoga. More generally, sādhana indicates the discipline the practitioner impose himself in order to achieve his goal. It requires a certain organization and willingness to make this organization you own lifestyle at least for the necessary period to reach the goal.

Use this period, Leo, to set your sādhana. The path is often more important and meaningful for your growth than the arrival.

Be disciplined with this sequence:

Utkata-āsana, literally unstable pose, but known as powerful pose and yogic chair too. Strong and firm on your legs, take stock of yourself and try to understand where you are and where you want to get. // From 30 sec. at 1 min.

Trikona-āsana, triangle pose. Look for harmony and balance among the various spheres of your life. From right to left, from bottom to top, consider each part. I already recommended this pose to you last month. Continue and see if and how it changes. // 1-2 min. per side.

Anuloma-Viloma prānāyāma, literally natural-unnatural breath, also called nādī-śuddhi or nādī-śodhana, or purification of the canals. Use this technique to clarify and stabilize your mind. Keep a steady pace and try to exhale twice the time of the inhalation! // From 5 to 10 min.

TOTAL TIME: from 8 to 15 minutes.

MANTRA of the MONTH: «Ram».

The recommended times are provided only as a guide, always adjust the practice to your own times and limits. Never force, positions must be comfortable and stable!
