Tamas and Jyothi – darkness and light

«Grieve not for those departed; That takes thee backward; Rise from darkness to brighter glory, Come, we grasp thy hands» (Atharva-Veda, 8.1.8).

It is difficult to see the good side of an unexpected event that takes away something that you considered precious or important: whether it is a relationship, an object or even just a habit. Yet there is something positive in everything, as there is also something negative in what you consider positive. In short, there is a time and a usefulness for everything and when this time and this utility vanishes, it is necessary to accept the fact that that thing no longer has a reason to exist. Get angry if you want, don’t suffocate the pain or disappointment, vent them as long as you need to let go and start off lighter.
